There are only a few vineyards in Hungary that have been owned by the same family for eight decades: one of these is the Birkás Wine and Pálinka House, located in Izsák, where the love of wines of the Great Plain and the professionalism are both based on tradition. The inheritance of the paternal grandfather, called Menyhért Birkás, at the moment is continued by the third generation of the family; namely by Csilla Birkás and Zsolt Birkás.
Farming on 11 hectares, the emphasis is on the Hungaricum kind of varieties that currently live their renaissance, such as the origin protected Izsáki Sárfehér, the fruity, redolent Cserszegi Fűszeres, or the purplish, luscious Kadarka. At the same time, they offer popular world varieties (Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc) too and an unmissable, crispy Kékfrankos rosé.
At the Birkás Wine Shop, visitors can also find delicacies such as wine chocolate, wine jelly, and Pálinka-filled bon-bon.
