The wood press, exhibited at Antal Winery in Baja, has been made in 1856, but it is still in an excellent condition – symbolizing the viticulture tradition and expertise that has been inherited and developed in the area over generations in the past centuries. The 30-hectares family-run business harvests five varieties of white grapes (Chardonnay, Cserszegi Fűszeres, Italian Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Irsai Oliver) and seven varieties of blue grapes (Nero, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Kékfrankos, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Kadarka) each year. Besides fresh, fruity white and rosé wines, heavy wines from Cabernet Franc or the legendary Kadarka are also bottled in the cellar.
Merlot Premium Red Wine 2015 has been chosen as the “The best red wine of Bács-Kiskun county” in 2018 and has been picked among the National Wines of Excellences as well.
Antal Winery happily welcomes visitors to the vineyard who are able to sneak-peek into the everyday life of the winery.
