István Knehr’s family farm cultivates on only half a hectare in Hajós, however, it would be a mistake to draw any conclusions regarding to how serious they are about wine making. In short: VERY! With a little exaggeration, the young farmer knows each and every one of the 3,500 grapewines of the vineyard and manages them with great expertise. They grow a total of 4 varieties: Italian Riesling, Zweigelt, Cabernet Franc and Kékfrankos.
Not only red, but white wine is also made from Cabernet Franc by the winery, which is a good sign of the combination of tradition-based expertise and youthful impetus for innovation. „We combine the techniques we learned from our parents and grandparents with modern winemaking techniques, and we strive for continuous improvement to produce truly high quality wines” says István.
