In the area of Jánoshalma, taking advantage of the excellent soil and climatic conditions, people have been growing grapes since the 1700s.
The sunny hours well above the national average, the humous soil covered with loess and the brown shroud of sand together favor the production of light white wines, airy rosés and fruity red wines.
Continuing the work of the winemaker ancestors, the owners founded Kunvin Winery Ltd. in 1991, which currently produces 21 varieties of grapes on 320 hectares.
Their flagship wines are Cserszegi Fűszeres, Kékfrankos Rosé, Cabernet Sauvignon, Aureus made from the late-ripening Rhine Riesling and the very special Silenos ice wine. The latter is made from late-harvested frozen grapes that have been processed while they were still frozen. The harmony of the amber-leaning juice is completed by oak barrels.
